You’ve invested the necessary time in the salon to enjoy fingernails that give your hands a whole new look of style and beauty. But have you considered the importance of controlling the amount of dirt and germs that can collect under your nails? It’s an issue of health and hygiene, besides completing the gorgeous effect of beautifully painted nails.
If you do a lot of cooking, such as making homemade meatballs, how do you control the germs that collect under your nails? Wearing gloves is the best option. The same is true for gardeners. If you work with plants and dirt, don’t forget to wear protective gloves. Otherwise, you’ll have a challenge on your hands, to get your nails clean and sanitized.
The danger in having dirty fingernails is that germs and bacteria can be spread. Especially if you’re around infants and small children or have small ones of your own, you don’t want to risk accidentally causing a scratch that becomes infected.
Keeping your nails clean is every bit as important as ensuring that they look nice. There are different approaches to keeping fingernails clean. The following is a simple approach, using a nail brush:
- Begin by washing your hands with warm water, but don’t dry them off just yet.
- Thoroughly wet the bristles of a clean nail brush.
- Add one or two drops of liquid soap to the nail brush.
- Move the bristles of the brush across your nails, from side to side. The soap should create a nice lather. Get beneath the free edge of the nail’s tip as well as on the nail folds or the skin where the finger meets the nail.
- Next, change directions so that you’re brushing up and down the length of the nails.
- Repeat the process on the other hand.
- Rinse your hands until all soap has been removed. Be sure to rinse the suds from beneath the nails.
- Using a soft towel, dry your nails and hands.
Keep your hands clean and moisturized, to make the most of your beautiful nail design.
